BUST!

This year's Antique Street Faire will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2009 From 9am to 5pm. Once a year, La Mesa Boulevard is closed and Antique dealers from far and wide set out their wares. Reminiscent of an old fashioned Midwest flea market, there's live music and entertainment. All of our restaurants, coffee houses and pubs in The Village prepare special fare!

umm...this was a total BUST!
i woke up super early and super excited, got there and realized, i hate antiques and i hate antique enthusiasts.
or anyone who likes to get into enthusiastic conversations with me just because i glanced at their junk pile.
should've slept in. eh.

these walls

Per usual, the new digs have wood paneling so, renting or not, wallpaper is not an option.
But I can still dream!
I’ve trolled through this site for years, decorating pretend houses and deciding on pieces that would make good wall art.
That pattern's too dark to look any good over wood paneling but comes in other colors, like this that might work -
I think I mostly am just attracted to that picture because we’ve owned or have owned most pieces of furniture in the picture at one time or another.
But furniture SUCKS when you're moving, so this is a great idea for making a headboard and if it seems like too much effort to dismantle the current bed for a move, I may just incorporate this somehow in the new place.
And this…this is a great idea for how to make use of that totally underused piece of furniture - your couch!

20 bedrooms

sometimes when I’m bored, I make lists.
current list is trying to figure out how many different bedrooms/houses I’ve lived in since moving out at 17.
If couch surfing/slightly homeless stints count, the count would be higher but the legitimate grand total I think is…
next move will be Number 20.
but this is the very first time EVER to have a SPARE room!!!
maybe that makes this both 20 & 21?!

in a barbie world

ok, i never was much of a barbie girl but apparently it's that plastic bimbo's 50th birthday so i figure with all the talk of barbie, somebody should pay tribute to the boys...and i happened to have just re-found my barbie fashion collection book showcasing fashion's finests from the years '68 to '74!
starting with ken, aka. john denver -
easy rider reincarnated...
a ken that somehow reminds me of brad pitt...
and sleazy gross ken...
(am i crazy or are his pants unzipped here?)

green mind

so not into giving a shit about st. patty's day but with a claiming to be part irish house guest in town (Quinn!), i was pleasantly surprised to find out Guinness is awesome.
chocolate with a touch of coffee, in an beverage that causes inebriation?!
bless me.
here's the nerdy way i spent the "holiday" -

tell me why i don't like mondays

started monday off with
the water getting unexpectedly shut off 2 seconds after I got out of the shower (luckily after!).

Middled the day with running out of gas on the way home from work.
(last time i filled up that gas station was running)
Ended the day with some late night food and fun at the Riviera and met the man behind The Art Snob – a devastatingly tasty beverage as well as devastatingly great artwork.
Make your own Art Snob –
Knob Creek bourbon whiskey (lots)
Ginger Ale (the best is Reed’s Extra Ginger Beer!)
Dash of bitters
Twist of orange

elfin army, nuff said.

iceland's hot! these days (and not just from global warming), which gives all of us a reason to believe in elves.
and yes i do believe.
at age 6 i SAW the head honcho elf himself go up our chimney and no stupid grownup spoilsports will ever convince me otherwise.
luckily Enid Blyton alway's had my back and she was awesome, grownup AND played a big role in my refusal to actually becoming like any of them : )

so next trip to iceland, be sure to check out
Icelandic Wonders, a museum dedicated to elves, trolls and the northern lights.
this National Geographic video explains it all a little better.
and whether you want to believe in elves or not, believe me that this was all just an excuse to post and re-watch Sigur Ros' Hoppipolla and Glosoli - the best two videos and songs ever made!

and connect-to-cut, if you want some international lifetime-my so called life type programming to stay entertained, here's Spangas, a posssibly icelandic gay coming of age tale but from the words i could interpret, it's german.

the twins look a little like a youthful adam & seth so i'm loving it.
